Aim of shoot:
For my third exam based shoot I will be continuing from my pervious London shoot, but this time not narrowed down to signs. I will be looking at general London journeys, this could be through people walking around the streets, pets, vehicles trains ect. My aim for this shoot will be to capture different types of journeys in London. I want this idea to be considered as simply as possible with it not being over complicated this is show that simple actions such as riding a bike can still be considered as a journey.
Development of ideas:
The work of William Eggleston is where i began my research for this idea. Eggleston is an American based photographer capturing many different American settings that can be deemed as journeys. His work has helped me to think about the types of images that I want to produce as well as think about my composition and editing.
The actual shoot:
I began my shoot in London Liverpool Street Station. I was looking at capturing people leaving/ arriving and just getting on with their everyday life. This idea worked well as i was able to get some effective images that fit in with my ideas. Below are examples of my work.
This image shows a line of people leaving the train station on a escalator. This image was photographed with a shutter speed of 1/640, aperture of 4.5f and ISO 100. What i find most interesting about this image is the composition, i like the low down angle that this image was taken allowing you see the people getting to the top of the escalator. I think that the use of tone here adds to the idea of depth here making the image appear longer.
This image was taken with a shutter speed of 1/60 p/s, an aperture of 5.6 and ISO 100. This is another example of this idea, the image of a train is an example of a mode of transport that it able to take people on their journeys. Some are just daily journeys to work where as some could be new steps in someones life, i.e moving to a new place. The tone of this image also adds a concept of depth making the image more interesting.
